Narrow or Weak AI, or ANI, focuses on specific tasks and operates within a limited context. Examples of ANI include chatbots, recommendation engines and voice assistants. These systems excel at designated tasks but lack a general intelligence.
The goal of General AI, or AGI, is to replicate human-like intelligence over a broad range of tasks. AGI should possess the ability to understand, learn and apply knowledge in various areas. This type of AI remains theoretical and does not yet exist in practice.
Artificial Superintelligence, or ASI, represents an advanced form of AI that surpasses human intelligence and it would have the capacity to outperform humans in virtually all cognitive tasks. We can only speculate about ASI and it raises ethical questions.
We’ve made significant progress in AI and true general AI and superintelligence remain elusive at best.
