As part of the order, developers will be required to share their safety test results and other critical information with the U.S. government. Standards, tools, and tests will be developed to ensure that AI systems are safe, secure and trustworthy. Agencies that fund life-science projects are to establish strong new standards to biological synthesis screening.

Standards are to be established for best practices for detecting AI-generated content and authenticating official content via the Department of Commerce. Guidance will be developed for content authentication and watermarking to clearly label AI-generated content. Tools will be used to make it easy for Americans to know that the communications they receive from the government are authentic.

An executive order directs agencies to combat algorithmic discrimination and advances equity and civil rights by providing clear guidance to landlords, federal benefits programs as well as federal contractors so that AI algorithms will not exacerbate discrimination.

The executive order also exists to stand up for consumers, patients and students, support workers, promote innovation and competition, advance american leadership abroad and ensure responsible and effective government use of AI. More action will be required in the future concerning an approach to a safe, secure and trustworthy AI.
